THOMAS LYNES
SCHOOL: Norwich University of the Arts, UK
LEVEL: Senior
INSTRUCTOR: Glen Robinson
CATEGORY: Sports magazine

SPD-U: What was your inspiration in creating your entry?
THOMAS: Since visiting family in the states, I've always had a keen interest in the sports, music and sneaker culture. One of my most memorable moments was taking my first step inside the Garden to see the Knicks. As soon as I discovered All-Star weekend was heading to New York, I felt it would provide me with strong content to work with.

SPD-U: What was the biggest challenge in creating your entry?
THOMAS: My work is always typographic heavy, so for me creating illustrations that were in keeping with the theme and contributed to the overall aesthetic was the most challenging aspect.

SPD-U: What's your major/field of study? And do/did you participate in any publication- or design-related campus activities throughout your college years?
THOMAS: The publishing course at Norwich gives us a great opportunity to explore many different sides of design, but the fundamentals of what we do are editorial-based.
