All Things Engraved

I was talking to someone recently who told me she had just finished a book and is about to embark on the book tour.  She told me it was a book on engraving, not the kind your father once did with an engraving tool on all your worldly possessions like your tricycle or old wooden treasure box. No, this is something more artful and beautiful...art engraved on paper.  The book is called The Complete Engraver by Nancy Sharon Collins....


I was excited and intrigued. Although a photo editor, since I was a kid I've always been intrigued and fascinated with typography. She informed me that the art is making a come back in all its exquisiteness and beauty. What a relief I thought, I love the art of writing letters on fine stationery. "Its about de-mystifying this incredible printing process, discovering the history, sharing the craft, and reaching-out to visual culture nerds like you, people who know, or know nothing about engraving."
