Associate Art Director

New Jersey Monthly--the leading regional magazine in the state--is looking for an associate art director. This person will be responsible for front and back of book pages (from concept through completion), special projects as needed, and art department administrative tasks. The right candidate must have a passion for editorial art direction and design, be great at crafting type, and be able to carry the load of a substantial part of a busy two-person department, covering for the art director in her absence. Great design and communication skills, expert adobe software skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects while maintaining a positive and pro-active attitude are required. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of editorial experience, ideally at a consumer publication. Design for multiple digital platforms is a plus. This is a great opportunity for someone to work with top photographers and illustrators and play a key role with a highly experienced fun editorial team. Designer 1

Designer 1 A Designer 1 is responsible for planning and designing pages for print products in the Phoenix Design Studio. Some digital design may be involved. Designers will also be responsible for special design projects, as assigned, and for producing art/graphics and/or designing pages that adhere to legal, ethical and quality standards. Responsibilities & Requirements •Must be able to communicate fluently in English since most products that will be assigned will be produced in English, which requires the individual to understand the language in order to create appropriate designs. •Must have design skills using design software to include InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. •Must have experience producing simple to moderately complex designs that are creative, appealing, accurate, etc. •Ability to lay out pages that are proportioned, balanced and aesthetically pleasing. •Understanding of the print process and ability to produce visual elements in accordance with print standards. •Ability to plan, organize, identify problems and correct issues related to page flow under the pressure of deadlines and in a noisy environment. •Ability to be creative. •Sound grammar, spelling and punctuation skills. •Effective communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment. •Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 1 year page and/or graphic design experience is preferred. •Experience in a newspaper setting is desired. Associate Art Director, mental_floss

Mental_floss magazine is seeking an Associate Art Director to join our small but mighty team in New York City. Working closely with the creative director and the editorial team, the Associate Art Director will be responsible for executing bold original design concepts. This includes assigning and directing illustrators and and photographers, managing issue budgets, and all aspects of page production from conception through prep for pre-press. Candidates should have a proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and demonstrated experience in all of the above. Digital Designer, Runner's World

Rodale is seeking a talented digital designer to create clean, elegant and engaging presentations for the Runner's World website and other online assets. This person will be involved in the design of several new initiatives, as well as existing programs and projects. Art/Design Intern Food Network Magazine

Food Network Magazine (Hearst Corporation) is seeking a graphic design student for an internship in the Art Department. The intern will assist in the daily workflow of the magazine. Duties will include: updating layouts, minor imaging work, and some design. Candidates should have an interest in magazine publishing, strong working knowledge of InDesign and Photoshop. Good Housekeeping Magazine 2014 Spring Art Intern

Good Housekeeping Magazine is looking for a 2014 Spring ART INTERN. The right candidate will hold many of the same responsibilities as a full-time staff member, including concepting art for stories, collaborating with the editorial and photo staff, and designing smart, attractive layouts. Low Resolution/FPO scanning for People magazine. (full-time position) Looking for a, experienced person with EXPERT knowledge of Photoshop (cutting of silo's; slight retouching; etc...) who has excellent organizational skills and an ability to multi-task to join a small three-person team. Along with FPO scanning this position also involves electronic routing and tagging of images in order to maintain our in-house photo database system. Please note that the volume of work is like a production house as we work on many projects simultaneously with the weekly magazine. Occasional weekend work may be necessary in the event of a breaking news story. Knowledge of SCC MediaGrid photo management system a plus, but not necessary

Women's Health Spring Design Aide

Women's Health magazine is currently accepting resumes and portfolio samples for an art and design aide. This PAID opportunity is open to current sophomore-senior undergraduates, graduate students and individuals who are within two years post-graduation.
