Magazine Art Director

SAM is the tri annual publication for the 72,000 graduates of Suffolk University in Boston and other readers on and beyond our campus. The magazine, available in print and digital editions, is closer aesthetically to a consumer publication than an institutional magazine so the role of Art Director is particularly significant. The work is performed offsite as a contract position so that we are able to consider candidates from any region, but design professionals in the Greater Boston area are preferred. Recognized with dozens of awards from national organizations in communications and education, SAM is noted for innovative design and we are seeking art direction from seasoned, visionary designer.

Overview Vogue.com is look for a Senior Graphic Designer with a refined aesthetic and impeccable style to help elevate the general design standards of the website. Freelance Photo Assistant, Architectural Digest

AD is seeking a responsible, motivated full-time assistant-level freelancer to work with its photography department. The assistant will support the photo editors on a range of tasks, primarily administrative, but also photo research and production, as needed. Ideal candidates are entry-level recent grads with an interest in editorial photography and publishing who are available for full-time work. This is a great opportunity for photography (or related) majors with an interest in interiors, architecture, luxury lifestyle, art and design. Candidates should be organized and detail-oriented, able to multitask, and have strong communication and computer skills.

Esquire Photo Intern

Esquire Magazine is seeking an enthusiastic Photo Intern to join their team. Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in photo research, prop scouting for photo shoots, and light administrative work. There may be opportunities to assist on set. Maxim Photo Intern

Maxim Magazine is seeking enthusiastic Photo Interns to join their team for the fall semester. Applicants must be photography majors, detail oriented, thorough, hard working and responsible. Interns will have the opportunity to see how a photo department for a nationally distributed magazine operates from the inside. Digital Editorial Designer, Creative Services

Assistant Designer

Assistant Art Director

Grist is seeking an Assistant Art Director who will provide daily creative support for our award-winning green-news website and related organizational projects. You will work directly with Grist's editorial staff, and will be responsible for various media including illustrations for articles, stand-alone images, and other projects. You must have a strong illustration portfolio, a well-developed sense of humor, and a willingness to have fun, play, and get creative -- all with an eye to meeting deadlines. Deadlines. Always deadlines. Responsibilities: You will be in charge of all images and other media that accompany Grist articles: Must be able to execute illustrations for articles in collaboration with editors and writers; Must have enthusiasm for all forms of editorial illustration -- cartoons, illustrations, infographics, photos, etc. Should be familiar with latest internet image language, from hot styles to meme-y photohacks; Will develop -- or even arrive with -- a growing database of artists you can call on to provide illustration or other support when necessary; Will be open to design direction and be able to adapt to Grist's evolving house style, and Will also have specific, growing design vision and ideas to implement and experiment with, especially in regard to special editorial projects and tools for storytelling (infographics, motion graphics, slideshows, timelines, videos, etc) You will also illustrate materials for marketing and development projects as requested by those departments, including illustrations for campaigns, T-shirts, annual reports, printed cards, etc. Consider it a fun 10% of the job, and as most of these deadlines are not same day, you will often get to collaborate with other illustrators, depending on the project, and some truly creative Gristers!

Designer

The Washington Post has an opening for a designer on its Design team. The ideal candidate will be working on deadline in a fast-paced environment throughout the newsroom -- from the Style section to Metro and other weekly sections. The Design team is responsible for the design of the newspaper and its magazine, and contributes to the Post's digital apps and long-form enterprise design. These positions will be heavily involved in print, but every designer on the staff is also designing for digital products. Designing for projects and even A-1 will be expected. The ideal candidates must have the ability to design print and digital projects which are bold, surprising and energetic, while balancing navigational clarity and section pacing and adhering to The Post's standards of accuracy and news judgment. Proven skills with photo journalism, graphics and typography are essential. We place a premium on collaboration and expect designers to be catalysts for creativity. Our designers are expected to be self-starters who add value to stories using alternative formats, to articulate reasons for design decisions, and to take initiative in planning processes to make The Post's pages as strong as possible. The positions will include evenings and weekend work and at least four years of publication experience is required. Experience with Eidos Methode or digital design a plus. Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is required. Digital experience is preferred.

Deputy Art Director - Travel&Leisure
