From the Student Competition Archives: Competition #6 - 2000 Winners
As we celebrate SPD's 50th Anniversary, we're going back in time to showcase all the past Student Competition winners.
For the first 5 years of the competition, it was more like SPD's professional competition in that it honored the best work being done by students from the past year. But with this 6th competition in 2000, we started giving an assignment, so entries were created specifically for our competition, just like we do now (we'll be announcing this year's assignment by Nov. 14!).
Last week we showcased the top winners from the 1999 competition. Today we're highlighting all the winners from the 2000 competition. This 6th Student Competition was published in Pub 35...

This year was the first year the competition gave an assignment for students to complete as their entry (which is what we do now, look for this year's rules to be announced by November 15!). But like previous years, the top prize was the B.W. Honeycutt Award of $2,500, followed by 2nd and 3rd place prizes of $1,000 each. This juried competition acknowledged the student designers, and the teachers of graphic design who developed their unique talents.
