NYLON Marketing Design Intern

NYLON is looking for a Marketing Design Intern. Main responsibilities include designing marketing proposals, creating mock-ups for print & web (specifically newsletters for the NYLON Shop) and shadowing the Marketing Designer. We are looking for strong designers with a keen eye for aesthetics and typography. Candidates must be flexible, detail-oriented, pro-active, and have good multi-tasking and time management skills. Digital Imaging Specialist/ Art Director/Photo Editor, Inked Magazine and Inked Girls Magazine

Inked Magazine seeks an energetic, organized, and hands-on multi-tasker to head up the prepress of their monthly magazine and the production and prepress of their bi-monthly magazine Inked Girls. The right well-rounded candidate will be expected to have a solid background in photo retouching, color management and correction, design and layout, and digital asset management. Magazine and or publishing experience is a must. The position requires the ability to manage multiple schedules and tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of juggling day-to-day administrative tasks with work on current and future issues. The qualified candidate should have great attention to detail, and possess the ability to shape a project from conception to completion. This individual should excel at working both independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Responsibilities Include: • Producing photo shoots • Coordinating with photographers (and others as necessary) to ensure delivered materials meet deadline • Retouching and color correction • Coordinating upload schedule with press • Trafficking digital images and other related digital assets including digital and foreign editions • Identifying and developing relationships with new talent to be featured in the magazine • Design and layout • Prep and upload files to multiple digital platforms such as GooglePlay, Magzter, and Zinio. • Hire interns and delegate responsibilities as necessary.

Design Director, Seventeen

•Along with the Creative Director, responsible for managing/art directing a team of 3 designers. •Overseeing the design of the front-of-book and features well. This includes: -working with designers to sketch out the entire issue and present this plan to the Editor-In-Chief -daily reviews of layouts in-progress •Design for Love, Health, and back-of-book pages, plus design for special celebrity sections and well features •Planning and on-set art direction for lifestyle, guy celebrity, room décor, food, and fitness shoots. •Editing film for use in features stories. •Attend daily art meetings with Editor-in-Chief when Creative Director is out •Design contact for production issues (creation of pages templates, workflow issues)

Los Angeles Magazine Art/Design intern

Looking for a FALL 2013 Art Intern, starting mid to late August. Assist Design Director and Art Directors in our busy art department to develop our award winning monthly magazine. Photo research, typeface research, illustration research, layout design, mocking up concepts, photo shoots, etc. are examples of daily tasks. Intern will work closely with staff and learn how the magazine gets made every month. Must work at least 2 days a week, preferably more days and consecutive days. Photo Intern

Popular Mechanics currently has two internship openings in the photo department for the fall 2013 semester. Interns will work closely with the photo and art departments to gain vital magazine experience. Candidates must be detail oriented, digitally proficient, organized, have a strong interest in photography, and a positive attitude. The positions are for college credit only. Days and hours are negotiable. Deputy Design Director, People

People is looking for a dynamic and autonomous Deputy Design Director to deliver meaningful visual content to an audience of more than 43 million readers. The candidate will assist in executing the look and feel of our brand, and work closely with the design director to package exciting, compelling content across People's print and digital products. The candidate must be a confident, curious, self-starter, prepared to lead the art direction of select special packages and one-shots - and calmly guide a design assistant in the execution. This position will be focused on email and site changes as needed by the demand of the business. Freelance Art Director

Vanity Fair is looking for a full-time, in-house freelance art director, starting on July 10th, for a period of 3 months. Duties will include designing features, special sections, iPad edition, and other miscellaneous projects.

Women's Health Fall Internship

Women's Health magazine is currently looking for an enthusiastic art intern for the Fall 2013 semester. This would be a paid internship running late September through early December for academic credit. A commitment of 3-5 days a week is required. Duties will include assisting the art department and designing layouts for FOB sections. Must be proficient in InDesign.

Junior Designer

U-T San Diego is seeking an energetic and creative junior page designer to join the newsroom design team. You must have good interpersonal skills and be comfortable collaborating with multiple departments in a fast-paced environment. You should have college, internship or other previous design experience working on a newspaper, magazine or other publication. Duties will include designing covers and inside pages for features as well as news sections. Must be flexible with schedule, including working night and weekend shifts.
