Design Director

The Design Director reports to the Creative Director and is responsible for designing covers, cover stories, special packages, and features. The position requires a strong, organized leader who can confidently art direct the magazine and manage the workflow of the art department. The design director collaborates closely with the photo and edit departments to ensure a consistent visual identity for the magazine and special projects. This position requires someone who can work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, is able to multi-task and meet daily production deadlines. Responsibilities: * Work closely with creative team to conceptualize, research and plan visuals for magazine. * Manage and direct art department staff. Responsible for hiring and training of new employees, including freelancers.. * Responsible for daily workflow and layout reviews * Work with photo/edit/production staff to monitor and meet all production and shipping deadlines * Work with pre-press vendor to review color correction * Work with production and art depts. to ensure quality control on designs

The position requires a strong, organized leader who is comfortable art directing and managing the workflow of the art department. The Art Director collaborates closely with the photo and editorial departments to ensure a consistent visual identity for the magazine and special projects as necessary. This position requires someone who can work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, is able to multi-task and meet weekly production deadlines. Responsibilities: - Work closely with creative team to conceptualize, research and plan visuals for the magazine. - Manages and directs art department staff.
