The 2011 PUB(lications) CRAWL: It's On.

Our Pub(lications) Crawl is a day-long event where you'll get to tour the offices of two fantastic magazines for an in-depth look at the way things really work. This year we're visiting Billboard, HGTV Magazine (a startup!), Maxim, Money, Parents and TIME magazines -- all ready to give you behind-the-scenes access to the real workings of a major magazine.

This year, we specifically scheduled it for a Friday early in the semester when you can (we hope!) coax your professor into excusing your absence, or bringing your whole class along too! Come armed with your curiosity and questions, and prepare yourself for a very unique tour of great magazine-making. Space is very limited, so RSVP to reserve your spot after the jump...

THE DETAILS:
Friday, September 30, 2011
9:30 am - 4:00 pm (end time is approximate)
We'll start in the Union Square area, exact location to be given when you RSVP.

- FREE
for all SPD Current Student Members! Just reserve a ticket down below & indicate your tour choices in the next step.
- $15 for non-members. Buy your tickets below & indicate your tour choices in the following steps.
(Remember, it's only $25 to join as a Student Member ... if you join now or the day of the event, your admission will be FREE.)

PLEASE NOTE: FOR SECURITY REASONS, NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WHO HASN'T SIGNED-UP IN ADVANCE--TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED ONLINE.

WANNA COME?
Purchase your ticket or reserve your spot below, and indicate your 1st, 2nd and 3rd tour preferences when prompted; choose from Tours A, B and C as described below. No mixing and matching between tours.
Tours are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis, and we will email you a confirmation of your assigned tour once registration has closed. Look for that confirmation email on Thursday, Sept. 29th. This confirmation email will also give you specifics on where to meet us on Friday morning, the 30th.

THE TOURS:
TOUR A: Billboard and Money
TOUR B: Parents and Maxim
TOUR C: TIME and HGTV Magazine

BRING WITH YOU:
- a government-issued photo I.D. for access to office buildings
- money for lunch and possible subway travel
- a notebook for notes and a bag since you'll be getting handouts and magazines
- umbrella/raingear and comfortable shoes since we'll be walking to the different offices

Leave the resumes and portfolios at home ... we'll have a Portfolio Review and Workshop later in the year and you'll have the chance to review it with our panel of professionals at that time.

THE FINE PRINT (OH SO IMPORTANT!)
Space is limited so RSVP asap!  Your tour preferences are just that; in other words, they are not guaranteed. Tours are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis ... so the earlier you RSVP, the better chance you have of getting your top choice. This also means that if you are part of a large group registering, you may not all get assigned the same tour.

Hi Chelsea (and everyone coming on the tours!),

As it says in the RSVP process you use to sign up, we won't be able to send final confirmations about your specific tours until registration has closed, in the email that you'll all get as one final follow-up on Thursday morning, the 29th, to remind you about the meeting location for Friday morning.

    Thanks for double-checking!

    SPD
